Privacy

This site is a photography portfolio. It has no accounts, forms, comments or advertising. The only thing that collects data about visitors is optional analytics, and it is off unless you turn it on.

Your choice

Analytics is currently: Off

Your choice is saved in your browser and asked again after twelve months. You can change it here at any time. Without JavaScript, analytics stays off.

What analytics is for

I use Google Analytics 4 to see roughly how many people visit and which games and screenshots get looked at. That helps me decide what to photograph and publish. It is not used for advertising.

If you accept

Google Analytics is loaded from Google about a second and a half after the page finishes loading. Google then sets two cookies on vp.grimtech.co.uk, _ga and _ga_XXPKD9SFHL, and receives:

  • Your IP address, browser, device, language and approximate location. Google states that GA4 does not log or store IP addresses.
  • The page you are on and the site that sent you here.
  • The events below.

Events recorded:

  • Page views.
  • A screenshot opened or changed, with the game name, album and screenshot file name.
  • The first zoom, fullscreen and download of a screenshot.
  • An album visited.
  • A click on a link to another site, recording the platform only (for example X or Flickr).

No names, email addresses or accounts are collected. Google signals and ad personalisation are switched off, and the advertising consent settings stay denied. Event data is kept for 14 months. The cookies last up to two years, which is Google’s default.

If you reject

Nothing is loaded from Google and no analytics data is sent. If you reject, ignore the notice, or your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, the site treats analytics as off. Both signals only apply while you have not made a choice yourself. You can still turn analytics on from this page.

Changing your mind

Use the button above, or the Privacy link in the footer. Rejecting deletes the analytics cookies this site set for vp.grimtech.co.uk and stops further data being sent. Data already collected is not removed from Google Analytics.

How your choice is saved

Your choice is stored in your browser’s local storage under vp-consent, as accepted or rejected plus the date. It is not sent anywhere and it expires after twelve months. Clearing your site data removes it.
